Solar Battery Installation in Albury-Wodonga
A home battery stores the solar you generate during the day so you can use it at night. That means you rely less on grid power when prices are highest. Next Generation Energy designs and installs battery systems for homes, farms and businesses across Albury-Wodonga and up to 150 km away.
Add a Battery to Existing Solar or Install a New System
- Retrofit: we add a battery to your existing solar. Depending on your current inverter, this may need an AC-coupled battery or a hybrid inverter upgrade.
- New solar and battery: we design both together around your power use.
- Backup power: some battery systems can keep selected circuits running during an outage. We’ll explain what your chosen system can and can’t do.
- Off-grid and farm systems: see our off-grid solar page.
Cheaper Home Batteries Program
Eligible battery installations may get a discount under the Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which works through small-scale technology certificates (STCs). The discount depends on usable capacity and on when the battery is installed. It changed on 1 May 2026 and now steps down every six months. See our Solar Rebates page for details.
Sizing Your Battery Properly
Bigger isn’t always better. We look at your bills, when you use power, your solar size, and any EV or future electrification plans, then recommend a capacity that makes sense for you.

Solar Battery FAQs
Can I add a battery to my existing solar? Usually, yes. It depends on your inverter and system. We’ll assess it.
Will a battery work in a blackout? Only if the system includes backup functionality. Not every setup does, so ask us.
Is there a government battery rebate? The federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount applies to eligible installations. NSW’s earlier battery installation discount is no longer available, but NSW offers a separate incentive for connecting your battery to a virtual power plant (VPP).
What size battery do I need? It depends on your evening and overnight usage. We size it from your bills.
Can I finance a battery? Yes. NGE is an approved Brighte and Plenti vendor, subject to approval.
