The Opportunity
As the largest Australian manufacturer of transformers, WTC recognized the need to enhance their environmental sustainability and reduce operational costs. The extensive roof space at their headquarters provided an ideal opportunity to harness solar energy, offset rising electricity costs, and contribute to their environmental goals.
The Solution
Next Generation Energy Solar partnered with WTC to develop a comprehensive solar solution tailored to their needs. The project involved the design and installation of a 250kW solar system across their manufacturing facility. The system features 937 high-efficiency PV panels, strategically placed to maximize energy generation.
During the project, the scope expanded to include additional structural roof upgrades, the installation of specialty rooftop safety equipment, and the construction of a new inverter plant room to house the solar system’s critical components.
The Impact
The solar installation is expected to generate significant energy savings for WTC, with estimated annual carbon savings of 477 tonnes and cost savings of $78,290. This project not only reduces the facility’s reliance on grid power but also aligns with WTC’s commitment to sustainability and a cleaner energy future.
